Questions About Panoramics

Can you photograph my venue as a full 360 panorama?

Yes but do bear in mind that not all panoramas need to be a full 360 degrees. Hotel interiors for instance, may have ceilings that don't warrant being photographed as a full 360 but a lobby or foyer might. We can advise on what will work best in any situation. Outdoor scenes (even on an overcast day) work well of course - we can even add in a cloud filled sky where none existed.

Why do 360 panoramas not have the same defintion you'd find on a high resolution photograph?

Because we have to take into consideration the loading time for a 360 image, there has to be a compromise between maximising definition and reducing file size for use on the web. For CDROM or DVD, definition can be much higher. Generally the file size of a panorama for web use falls between 1MB and 3MB.

Do you charge per panorama?

No. It can cost as much to do two panoramas as it can eight. Location and time are the basis for costing plus the additional time involved in post-production work. We are happy to provide a no-obligation quote.

Can you photograph anywhere?

Yes - providing we can find a stable platform to work from. We can't use flash-photography or rig up secial lighting because clearly it would be seen in the final shot but it is possible to use accent lighting providing the source is hidden.

We can also photograph objects from all sides (almost a reverse panoramic) as well as macro panoramics, within reason.

Do you use hemisphere type lenses (ie fisheye)?

Yes we can but we find the defintion is very poor on fisheye based panoramas which is why 99% of our work is carried out using digital cameras with normal or wide angle lenses to preserve quality. Typically it takes around 100 individual images to make one complete panorama, all of which have to be assessed for size and exposure..

Are there any special requirements?

Not really. Outdoor shots are to some extent dependent on light conditions and the weather but we're used to challenging work!

How long does it take to process the panoramas?

Generally they take about a week, sometimes less. We are happy to work with webdesigners in order to meet size requirements and we can also supply the panoramas as a finished template gallery ready for upload - for a small charge.

360 Virtual Tours

The tourism & leisure industries are generally well suited to panoramics.

Sports halls, gyms, football grounds, stately homes, and libraries are just a few suggestions.

Atmosphere is also another consideration. Some venues lend themselves very well to panoramas that encapsulate activity. These kind of panoramas require a very different approach.

A 360 panorama can capture an event or situation that enables the viewer to step right into the scene - as if they are actually there.
